Mid-2022 WHO Recap

Greetings all.

Well, here we are nearing the end of July, during a heatwave. And as I write this, I’m thinking that I could sure use a cold home brew right now. Actually, I’m thinking a cold IPA in a Willi Becher glass would do the trick, although Fred Childs might have something to say about that after enlightening us with a comprehensive presentation on marrying beer styles with proper glassware.

Proper Glassware

Looking over our calendar, 2022 has been a  very active year for the club. I hope you check in to our Events page periodically to see what’s coming up at future meetings.

WHO president, Mike Katz, invited the club board to meet last week to discuss just that and (despite the Red Sox and Yankees battling it out on the monitors at Captain Lawrence) we accomplished quite a lot, planning out the main topics for the rest of the year’s meetings. From utilizing pH meters to maintaining beer lines, an IPA smackdown, a smoked grain buy and challenge, a discussion of big beers as the cold months settle in, and last but not least, our annual holiday party—you’ll see there’s plenty to look forward to!

As always, if you have an idea for a topic you’d like to present or would like to learn more about, please bring it up at a meeting or use our Volunteer form.

Stay cool!

Glassware presentation and discussion was quite informative. Filming the pours in the various vessels gave us a better idea of the different styles that pair with each of glass. The glass absolutely improves the drinking experience.
