It’s Märzen Season!

In the spirit of Oktoberfest, Mike Katz led attendees at our September meeting through a tasting of German and American styles of festival lagers. These included Bell’s Octoberfest Märzen, Sierra Nevada’s Octoberfest Amber Märzen, Ayinger’s Oktober Fest-Märzen, and from the oldest brewery in the world, Weihenstephaner’s Festbier.

The evening wouldn’t have been complete without some Bavarian-style pretzels… so Captain Lawrence provided those along with their own Oktoberfest brews done in collaboration with Snyder’s of Hanover, Pretzel Märzen and Pretzel Frücht (a gose-style ale brewed with Snyder’s of Hanover pretzels, passion fruit and guava).
