Round One Results of the 3rd Annual Last Brewer Standing Challenge
Greetings, fellow beer enthusiasts and homebrew aficionados! The Westchester Homebrewers Organization is thrilled to report on the exciting results from Round One of our 3rd Annual Last Brewer Standing Challenge! This year’s competition has seen an incredible array of talent, creativity, and — most importantly — delicious brews from our local brewing community. Let’s dive into the scores and celebrate the brewers who truly stood out in this round!
The Challengers and Their Brews
Our participants showcased a dazzling variety of beer styles, fitting into the broad Pale category, each with its unique spin. Here’s how they fared:
- TJ/Brendan – White Ale: 6.33
A valiant effort that’s sure to keep them learning and growing in their brewing journey!
- Vlad Kowalyk – American Blonde Ale: 9.29
Vlad truly shined with a refreshing Blonde Ale that resonated well with the judges, highlighting his ability to balance malt and hops beautifully.
- Christopher Pappas/Manhattanville Brewing Class – West Coast Pale Ale: 8.93
This team brewed up some serious magic with their West Coast Pale, which featured a burst of citrus aromas and a crisp finish.
- John & Luke – “Gen-Z” American Pale Ale: 8.62
Their modern twist on the classic Pale Ale was well-received, bringing a youthful flair to this competition.
- Steven & Cesar – Extra Strong Bitter (English Pale): 11.21
The standout champions of Round One! Steven and Cesar delivered an impressive Extra Strong Bitter that wowed the judges and set the bar high.
- Scott – American Pale Ale: 10.87
Close behind the leaders, Scott’s American Pale Ale offered a beautifully balanced profile that earned him significant praise.
- Mike K – American Pale Ale: 8.00
An admirable entry from Mike K, showcasing solid craftsmanship that will only improve with experience.
- Kathy K & Jen B – Bassierra American Pale Ale: 7.57
This dynamic duo brought a unique touch to their brew, undoubtedly growing from this challenge.
- Tim – Pale Ale: 8.50
Tim’s Pale Ale made a strong impression, demonstrating good technique and flavor precision.
What’s Next?
With Round One wrapped up, all eyes are now on the next challenge, Round Two is all about Browns. Will Steven and Cesar maintain their lead, or will one of the other talented brewers step up in the upcoming rounds? Only time will tell!
